HWT004 How to increase the number of TSO terminals
The original MVS Turnkey system by Volker Bandke has only three TSO sessions active. The hercules.conf file must be modified to contain the new addresses of the terminals requiring you to restart hercules. The member LCLMAJ00 in SYS1.VTAMLST controls the availability of terminals. The first section of this file is shown below. 000001 LCLMAJ00 LBUILD SUBAREA=2 000002 CUU0C0 LOCAL TERM=3277,CUADDR=0C0,ISTATUS=ACTIVE, + 000003 LOGTAB=BSPLIN01,LOGAPPL=NETSOL, + 000004 FEATUR2=(MODEL2,PFK) 000005 CUU0C1 LOCAL TERM=3277,CUADDR=0C1,ISTATUS=ACTIVE, + 000006 LOGTAB=BSPLIN01,LOGAPPL=NETSOL, + 000007 FEATUR2=(MODEL2,PFK) 000008 CUU0C2 LOCAL TERM=3277,CUADDR=0C2,ISTATUS=ACTIVE, + 000009 LOGTAB=BSPLIN01,LOGAPPL=NETSOL, + 000010 FEATUR2=(MODEL2,PFK) 000011 CUU0C3 LOCAL TERM=3277,CUADDR=0C3,ISTATUS=INACTIVE, + 000012 LOGTAB=BSPLIN01,LOGAPPL=NETSOL, + 000013 FEATUR2=(MODEL2,PFK) When you want to add terminal addresses make sure that the address on the left in the first term entry matches the CUADDR= parameter in the center. Also the term's status is indicated in the ISTATUS parameter. If it is set to "INACTIVE" manual action at the console will be required to bring the terminal online to TSO. When making changes to this file note the continuation + sign in column 72, be sure it's still in it's proper location when finished. Addresses typically go from 0C0-0C7, 1C0-1C7, 2C0-2C7, etc. When finished saving the member you must follow this procedure to activate the changes: Shutdown TSO - p tso Stop VTAM - z net, quick Rebuild VTAMOBJ - s resetobj Start VTAM - s net Start TSO s tso Your new sessions should be ready to use. Should you want more terminals than the sysgen allows for the MVS system must be re-gened(beyond the scope of this article).
