n indicates the field processed when the error was detected.
Cause: Logical function inconsistent with physical device type. For example, SYSRDR
assigned to a printer. This message may occur if, for example, CLOSE is issusd to a file
that is not assigned, or previous ASSGN attempted to assign SYSLNK to a device other
than a disk.
System Action: If SYSLOG is assigned to a keyboard, the system waits for an operator
response; otherwise, the invalid assignment is ignored.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: Issue the LISTIO command to check the assignments, then enter the new
assignment, or
Type CANCEL to cancel job, or
Type IGNORE or press END/ENTER to ignore the assignment if you can do without, and
continue processing.
If the problem recurs, obtain a system dump at the time of the failure and have the
· output
· job stream
· log sheet
· printer output
available for problem determination.
