Message - 4B99I

Nov 28, 2018

4B99I CSW**=nnnnnnnnnnnnnn CCW=nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn SN=ffff
Cause: This message always follows messages 4B20I - 4B34I (inclusive).
CSW - gives the last seven bytes of the channel status word in hexadecimal notation.
CCW - gives the entire channel command word in error in hexadecimal notation.
SN - gives the contents of the sense byte. (Trailing zeros are truncated.)
System Action: Processing continues.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BS1D INDICATE INITIATION OR COMPLETION
Cause: The system console operator has invoked BT3270SC to prepare BTAM for concurrent
OLTEP operation with a running local 3270 application (initiation) or to notify BTAM that
OLTEP has terminated (completion).
System Action: The system waits for an operator response.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: Enter one of the following responses:
INITIATION - to indicate that BT3270SC is being executed prior to the initiation of OLTEP and
that the ownership flags of local 3270 devices are to be changed from foreground to back-
ground.
COMPLETION — to indicate that BT3270SC is being executed after the execution of OLTEP and
that the ownership flags of local 3270 devices are to be changed from background to fore-
ground.
4BS2D INDICATE DEVICE(S) TO BE PROCESSED
Cause: Having invoked BT3270SC and received an indication of INITIATION or COMPLETION,
the console operator is asked which device(s) is (are) to be processed by BT3270SC.
System Action: The system waits for an operator response.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: Indicate one of the following:
X'xyn' or X'xyn’ - X'xyn'
where the first response indicates a single device and the second an inclusive range of up to
16 devices. (Since up to 32 devices may be attached to a local 3270 control unit, this process
will have to be done twice to allow processing of devices in excess of 16.) xyn is the channel-
unit address where x is the channel to which the control unit is attached, and yn is the device
address. If devices in excess of 16 are processed during the same invocation of BT3270SC.
the second time the device(s) is (are) specified, y must be an odd hexadecimal digit from 1-F
inclusive.
4BS3I ALL DEVICES PROCESSED
Cause: All requested devices have been successfully processed by the BT3270SC program.
System Action: Message 4BS6I will appear next in the case of initiation; message 4BS7D will
appear next in the case of completion.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BS4I NO DEVICES PROCESSED
Cause: None of the devices requested have been processed by the BT3270SC program.
System Action: A message indicating the error which occurred will appear next.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BS5I INVALID RESPONSE
Cause: The operator response to a previous message was incorrect. i
System Action: Processing continues. The message to which the reply was in error will be
repeated immediately.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BS6I xx DEVICES: X' ',X' ',...
xx=F1, F2, F3, or F4.
Cause: If the reply to the previous message 4BS1D was INITIATION and if the devices
indicated by the response·to the previous message were processed without error, this message
will appear on the system console immediately after message 4BS3I. The message informs the
operator that the indicated devices had their ownership flags changed from foreground F1, F2,
F3 or F4 to background, BG.
System Action: Processing continues.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: The subsequent reply by the operator to requests for foreground and device
information, when doing post-OLTEP processing, should match the information in this mes-
sage.
Note: A maximum of six devices will be indicated in each message. The message will be
repeated as required.
4BS7D RESPOND PROCEED OR TERMINATE
Cause: This message asks the operator whether he wants to process more devices through
BT327OSC.
System Action: Processing continues.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: Acceptable responses to this message are PROCEED or TERMINATE or any
abbreviations thereof. PROCEED will cause message 4BS2D or message 4BS8D to appear.
Message 4BS2D will appear if the response to the previous message 4BS1D was INITIATION;
message 4BS8D will appear if the response was COMPLETION. A response of TERMINATE
will cause the BT3270SC program to terminate.
4BS8D INDICATE PARTITION
Cause: This message appears if the response to the previous message 4BS1D was COMPLE-
TION; it inquires which foreground partition is to be given ownership of devices to be proc-
essed.
System Action: Processing continues.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: Respond F1, F2, F3, or F4.
4BS9I X'xyn' DEVICE TYPE NOT 3277 LOCAL
Cause: The BT3270SC program found a device specified previously in a reply to message
4BS2D whose device type is not a local 3270. No processing of any of the devices specified in
message 4BS2D occurs.
System Action: Processing continues.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: None immediately; message 4BS7D will follow. Then the operator must
decide whether to allow other devices to be processed if possible or whether to terminate
processing entirely.
4BSAI X'xyn' PUB DOES NOT EXIST
Cause: The BT3270SC program has found a device specified previously by the operator in
reply to message 4BS2D for which there is no PUB.
System Action: Processing continues. The device is not processed. Another message will
follow.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BSBI X'xyn' OWNED BY xx PARTITION
xx=BG, F1, F2, F3, or F4
Cause: The BT3270SC program has found that the specified device is already owned by a
background partition or by a non-BTAM foreground partition.
System Action: Processing continues. Another message will follow.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BSCI X'xyn' OWNED BY xx PARTITION. NOT BG
xx=F1, F2, F3. or F4
Cause: The BT3270SC program has found that the device mentioned in response to previous
message 4BS1D was owned by a foreground partition and the operator had responded
COMPLETION. The device would be expected to be owned by the background partition.
System Action: Processing continues. Another message will follow.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BSDI BTAM PROGRAM NOT ACTIVE IN xx
xx=F1, F2, F3, or F4
Cause: The BT3270SC program has discovered that the response to the previous message
4BS1D was INITIATION and one of the indicated devices is owned by a non-background,
non-BTAM partition.
System Action: Processing continues. Message 4BS7D will follow.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BSEI X' ' IS UNASSIGNED
Cause: The device specified in the message has been found by the BT3270SC program to be
unassigned to any partition.
System Action: Processing continues. Message 4BS7D will appear next, asking whether the
operator wants to proceed or terminate.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BSFI BTAM PROGRAM IS NOT CURRENTLY ACTIVE IN xx
xx=F1, F2, F3, or F4
Cause: This message can occur only when the BT3270SC program is being run following
OLTEP to reassign devices back to a partition containing a BTAM application. The message
could occur because the BTAM application has terminated normally while the OLTEP test was
being run, has been canceled or otherwise ended, or because the operator specified the wrong
partition.
System Action: Processing continues. Message 4BSGD will appear next.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: none.
4BSGD WERE ANY DEVICES PROCESSED FROM xx
xx=F1, F2, F3, or F4
Cause: If, while running the BT3270SC program following OLTEP, it is discovered that the
BTAM application program in the partition to which the devices were originally assigned is no
longer active (terminated normally or canceled), it will still be necessary to reassign the devices
tested by OLTEP to the partition that was controlling them when BT3270SC was run prior to
OLTEP. This message wants to know whether this is the case (YES) or whether the operator
simply specified the wrong partition (NO).
System Action: Processing continues.
Programmer Action: none.
Operator Action: Specify YES if devices were processed by BT3270SC prior to OLTEP in the
specified partition, and message 4BS2D will appear next. Specify NO if the wrong partition
was specified and message 4BS8D will appear next.
