Definition of DIAL

Logically connect via switched line, leased line, local terminal to a logged-on VM

Any Priviledge Class

The DIAL command is used to logically connect with a logged-on VM via a switched line, leased line, or
locally attached terminal.

DIAL | userid [vaddr]

userid The id of the logged-on VM

vaddr The virtual communications line that is to be used

Sys Responses: DIALED TO userid vaddr

Notes: The DIAL can only be used at logon time as a substitute for the LOGON command.

If issued from a real 3277 terminal RESET command must be used to drop the connection.

When connected the terminal operates under the exclusive control of that VM.

A 3066 system console or 3704/3705 control unit NCP lines are not eligible for use with
this command.
