VM/CMS CP LOGOFF Command

Terminate your VM machine and disconnect from VM/370

Any Priviledge Class

The LOGOFF command is used to terminate your virtual machine and close the connection to
VM/370

LOGoff | [Hold]
LOGout |

Parameters:

Hold Maintains a switched line in an open state so that you can log back in
without re-dialing.

Sys Responses: CONNECT= hh:mm:ss VIRTCPU=mmm:ss.hs TOTCPU= mmm:ss.hs (hs is hundredths of a second)

The system operator gets the following messages:

(rid is the resource identification of a 3704/3705 line)

(normal logoff)
{GRAF raddr}
{LINE raddr} LOGOFF AS userid USERS = nnn
{DEV rid }

(forced logoff due to terminal power down or line timeout)
{GRAF raddr}
{LINE raddr} LOGOFF AS userid USERS = nnn FORCED
{DEV rid }

(logoff of user disconnected thru the DISCONN command)
USER DSC LOGOFF AS userid USERS = nnn

Notes: All spool files are closed, dedicated devices are detached, temporary disks are released, and
an accounting record is written.

IF you turn off your printer terminal or remote 3270 display after 15 minutes you are forcibly
logged off. For a local 3270 terminal forced log off occurs 15 minutes after VM/370 discovers
the terminal has been turned of by sending a message and getting a power-off error in response.
This may take hours during which time the terminal is a security risk. If it is turned back on
it is in the same logged-on state as when it was powered-down.
